Black Kids Play Program™
Black Kids Play Program™
The Black Kids Play™ program is a program designed for play therapists interested in developing their play therapy skills when working with Black children and families. The program is based on the book, “Black Students Matter: Play Therapy Techniques to Support Black Students Experiencing Racial Trauma” by April Duncan, DSW, LCSW, RPT-S™. The book applies historical and seminal theories in individual, family and group play therapy with Black children and families within a school setting. The Black Kids Play™ program builds on the book by applying the concepts to additional settings including community settings, in-home play therapy sessions and residential settings. This program seeks to promote cultural inclusivity while also learning ways to identify and address race-based stressors in play therapy with Black children and families.
