Webinar Description:
Black youth are experiencing a range of bereavement experiences including bullying, the death of loved ones, having an incarcerated family member, having a negative experience with law enforcement or being involved in the child welfare system. Even Black LGBTQ+ youth may be experiencing grief as a result of their sexual orientation and/or gender identity. This live webinar addresses how the play therapy process can address grief and bereavement in Black youth in individual and group play therapy. Attendees will gain a better understanding of play themes that may present in the playroom and specific play therapy interventions to address grief and bereavement in Black children. Special attention is spent on cultural considerations play therapists should be mindful of when working with Black youth.
