Workshop Description:

Children with attachment disruptions due to foster care or adoption have relationship wounds that require healing. Play therapy can serve as an effective tool to enhance attachments and activate healing in children of all ages. This workshop will cover the core needs of adoption and ways you can meet them through thoughtful play-based assessment, case conceptualization and treatment. Attendees will analyze the therapeutic powers of play that can help adoptees and foster youth to heal. The workshop will cover essential play therapy seminal theories to employ when working with adopted or foster children including Child Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and Theraplay. Healing attachment wounds requires incorporating caregivers into treatment as well, therefore training will give you family play therapy  interventions as well as ways to help parents incorporate play therapy techniques at home to foster stronger connections.
