Workshop Description: 

Engaging families in play therapy is a helpful way to address issues that may be affecting the family system like divorce or death. In this webinar, participants will learn the various ways to engage family members of all ages in play therapy sessions. Time will be spent discussing play therapy interventions as an assessment tool to identify play therapy goals for families. Additionally, participants will learn how to engage caregivers in historical and seminal theories such as Filial therapy, Theraplay and Gestalt Play Therapy in family play therapy sessions to enhance their relationships with their children. 

 

Learning Objectives:

  1. List ways to prepare caregivers for family play therapy sessions.
  2. Describe play therapy interventions to use as an assessment tool for families.
  3. Discuss game play therapy interventions for family play therapy sessions.
  4. Use narrative play therapy skills in family play therapy sessions.
  5. Discuss Adlerian Play Therapy skills in family play therapy sessions. 
  6. Analyze the use of Filial therapy with caregivers.
  7. Apply Theraplay techniques in family play therapy sessions.
  8. Identify Gestalt Play therapy techniques to integrate into family play therapy sessions.
